Michelle's Question

I am still not sure of my question. I go back and forth between gender motivation and gender curriculum.

I was reading a power point from the Single Sex Classroom Conference I attended in Vegas and it does give ideas of how teachers can be more effective with both genders. It also states that over the years we as a society have started to favor females.

So since our last class I have started looking up resources about gender specific practices in the classroom. I realize that I need to be objective about what I am reading because a certain biasis usually comes out.

  1. Michelle,
I still think you should stick with gender motivation-it's measurable and already in place. To study different gender curriculums, you'd have to have teachers already teaching differently to different genders, and unless you know of that already going on (e.g. at the middle school) I wouldn't do that.
Plus, your gender motivation question is already great, and will yeild interesting results, I'm sure.

  2. On gender in our society-I have some thoughts I could share with you about a man's experience of the changes in our culture (I agree-more pro-female in some big ways). I had a fascinating adult gender-study experience a few years ago.

  3. I know you are right Aaron in that I should stay with what I already started and save the curriculum study for another time.

So then I am asking help from my blogging buddies to keep me on t

  4. I agree with Aaron, stick with what you have, it is great already! You may get different results than you expected but so am I. Just go with it! There is always next year to look at something new!

  5. So then I am asking help from my blogging buddies to keep me on track. My goal is to create motivational survey from list of what teachers gave me by Monday. I will then pass out the survey on Monday and ask for their return by Wednesday. I will then tally surveys on Thursday and post on blog the results.

Question to blogging buddies, Should the survey include all motivators listed by teachers or should I list only what I received from 3rd grade for 3rd grade?

  6. I think you should include all the motivation tools listed because someone may use something someone else listed and just not realize it.

  7. We got your back, Michelle. Get those surveys out and stay focused. The more I do, the more I realize that any data is great data.
