Focus
My key word for the next few months is to stay focus on my question and not get distracted by other things. I have seen an improvement in my students' writings.
Michele, I need to do the same thing...focus! It's great to read that your students are improving as writers. Do you have data for your project that illustrates this? In what ways are they improving? Are students improving in different ways at different rates? What factors of your teaching have made the largest impact on this improvement? I hope these probing questions help guide your next steps! Holly
The way the that I see my students improving is that the quality of their writing is improving, i.e. detail, paragraph guidelines. The data that I have is that every month the students have a prompt I have been using the same rubric to score their writes. I'm in the process of reviewing sentence fluency and word choice.

Wow Holly, great probing questings. I suggesting to Barb that she use a pre- and post-assessment for her mini-lessons to gather pertinent data, this may be a good strategy for you to use also Michele. Just a thought. Just have a quick interview with students is also another great way to gather important information regarding imporvements. Talk to you soon. CheriƩ Baker
ReplyDeleteFocus Michele! I'm glad you are seeing improvement in the group. Have you gone back to trait's lessons or just addressing needs where you see them?
